In Loving Memory
John Walter McCartney, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Chattaroy, Washington, on March 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife, Kima, his daughter, Angela, and son-in-law, Scott.
Born on November 15, 1951, in Spokane, Washington, to Walter and Bonnie McCartney, John grew up in a lively household alongside his five siblings: Rick, Tim, Debbie, Jeff, and Mike.
A proud Veteran, John served his country with distinction in the United States Army as part of the 101st Airborne Division. Following his military service, he built a respected career at Baker Commodities. His leadership and work ethic led him to the role of General Manager, a position he held for 35 years before retiring to spend time with his family.
In 1976, John married the love of his life, Kima. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage, building a life rooted in hard work and devotion. John was a man of the outdoors who found peace in nature. Whether he was hunting, fishing, camping, or tending to his farm and raising pigs, he was happiest when working with his hands and enjoying the fresh air.
John's legacy lives on through his beloved family. He is survived by:
His wife: Kima McCartney; daughter and son-in-law: Angela and Scott Warner; grandchildren: Michelle (and husband Moises Bautista), Justin Warner, and Ali (and husband Josh Graham); great-grandchildren: Hudson and Liam; and siblings: Tim, Debbie, Jeff, and Mike.
John was preceded in death by his son, Ronald; his parents, Walter and Bonnie; and his brother, Rick.
Celebration of Life
The family will hold a Celebration of Life in August 2026 to honor John's memory and the lasting impact he had on everyone who knew him. Details regarding the location and time will be shared as the date approaches.

Rest easy my friend, you worked hard all your life and gave freely to others. Your absence in the family will be felt, you were loved by many, I send prayers of comfort to Kima and the rest of the family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Kima and her daughter´s family. John was an outstanding man. Growing up I spent a lot of my childhood with both John and Kima, spending our time on lots of hunting trips, huckleberry picking, fishing and having him as a great brother.
