DeLaine Lewis Obituary

Born on December 29, 1937, in Stanley, North Dakota, to William and Emma Lewis, DeLaine was raised in Stanley and graduated there. He later became a long-time resident of Spokane Valley, Washington. DeLaine worked as a member of the Heavy Equipment Operators Union before retiring. In his free time, he could often be found at the local Eagles lodge playing pool or singing karaoke with friends, frequently enjoying a margarita in hand.

In 2020, DeLaine rekindled his love with his partner and wife, Barbara Atkinson. Their bond was unbreakable, and in August of 2025, DeLaine moved to Riverbank to be with her. He cherished spending time tending to his flowers and yard and was often heard singing old country songs around the house.

DeLaine deeply loved his family. He is survived by his beloved partner Barbara Atkinson; his brother Laverne Lewis; his son Jerry Lewis; his grandchildren Cheyenne Lewis and Dakota Lewis; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Emma Shatswell and Frank Shatswell (stepfather) and William Lewis (father); his siblings Pete Lewis, Myron Lewis, Elmer Lewis, Lloyd Lewis, and Darlene Allard; his daughter Julie Hefferon; and grandson Justin Hefferon.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date to honor DeLaine's memory. May his love for music, family, and life continue to bring comfort to all who knew him.
