Kenneth Hays Obituary

Kenneth Leroy Hays, 88, of Sedalia, MO, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. He was born on October 30, 1936, in Florence, MO, the son of Floyd Hays and Spicie (Gilmer) Hays, who preceded him in death.

On September 30, 1956, in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Fae L. Knipp, who preceded him in death on March 13, 2000. On June 21, 2009, in Stover, MO, he was united in marriage to Violet Young, who resides in the home.

Kenneth graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1955. After high school, he honorably served in the United States Army. Following his military service, Kenneth worked for Meadow Gold Dairy and later for Hayes Wheels, from which he retired in 2001. He was passionate about classic cars and owned several, including a 1948, 1937, and 1940 Chevrolet and a 1964 1/2 Mustang. Kenneth enjoyed attending classic car shows and collecting antiques.

In addition to his wife, Kenneth is survived by two daughters, Terri L. McDermott (Mike) and Amy L. Staus (Lynn), all of Sedalia, and a grandson, Kenny R. Blankenship.

In addition to his first wife, Fae, and his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a daughter, Michele L. Blankenship.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Bannister officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

The burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Staus, Mike McDermott, Kenny Blankenship, Harold Harrison, Mark Staus, and Kevin Staus.

Memorial contributions may be made to ACG Hospice in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
