Valerie Longo Obituary

WAKEFIELD, RI- Valerie R. Longa passed away in her home during the twilight hours on the 16th of February, 2025. Born in Manhassett, NY on the 22nd of November, 1958, spending summers on White Pond as a child, she eventually settled in South Kingstown as a young adult where she raised her family and was a lifelong resident.

Valerie devoted her whole life to her family, thoughtfully caring for the generations who came before her, and for those who came after. She loved them with a fierceness unmatched by any force in the Universe. There was no mountain too high, no ocean too vast, that would deter her from supporting those she held dear.

She enjoyed being in nature, and was an avid supporter of animals rights. She volunteered at the SK Animal Shelter throughout her life, and would often rehabilitate wild animals that had been injured.

Valerie is survived by her daughters, Miriah and Chelsea Longa, her granddaughter Leandra Velez, her grandson Anthony Resendes, her partner Fred DeWys, her

fur baby Ezzie, and her fur grandbabies Yaro, Moo Moo, Bama, Smokey, Bandit, and Church.

Her physical absence will be felt deeply by those who loved her, but her memory will live on in the world around. In the warm sunsets and the trees, in the snow and the gentle summer breeze. Forever and Always.

Valerie had chosen to be cremated. A Catholic mass and burial will be held this coming Spring, where she will be laid to rest next to her mother Cynthia at St Francis Cemetary in Wakefield. A Celebration of Life to follow, which will be open to the public. Details and notice will be given closer to the date.
