Linda Runkle Obituary

Lisbon - Linda Darnell (Murray) Runkle, our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother "Mema," and friend passed into eternal peace March 20, 2025. Born in Norwich, July 11, 1950, to Arthur "Bud" Murray and Elinor (Lawton) Murray, Linda attended Norwich Free Academy. She married the love of her life, Arthur "Art" Charles Runkle, Dec. 2, 1967.

Linda and Art had four daughters who loved her very deeply: Melissa (Robert) Johnson, Sheila (Thomas) Daigle, Connie Runkle and Tracy (Jack) Runkle-Ford whom they treasured during their 57 years of marriage. Linda also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Samantha Terry, Robert Johnson Jr., Deidra Berthod, Vicki Daigle, Devin Ford, Thomas Daigle Jr., Alyssa Maine, Tonya Lawton and William Anderson III. A special thank you to her grandchildren, Samantha and Devin, who have been an immeasurable help for both their grandparents. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, or "greats" as she called them: Callie, Scarlette, Grayson and Brady. Linda is also survived by her siblings, Elinor (Greg) Warner, Arthur "Joe" Murray, James "Jimmy" Murray and Robert "Bob" Murray; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Many will remember Linda as a coach and league coordinator at Norwich Ten Pin Bowl. She was passionate about teaching bowling and creating fun pastimes. Many more will remember her for her easy going personality and love for everyone - even if she just met them. Her door was always open, and in the summer, her pool was a gathering space for family, friends and acquaintances alike. She also enjoyed sitting on her beautiful deck with her loved ones and feeding and watching wildlife.

Many thanks to her lifelong friends, especially Sue and Maryanne, who have been a source of support during this difficult time. As we say goodbye to Linda, let us remember the joy, wisdom, kindness, compassion and love she brought into our lives. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, reminding us to live fully and love deeply, just as she did. Let her be an inspiration to us all, as she never stopped fighting to be there for her loved ones.

I delivered groceries to the Murray home on Scott Street. A wonderful family. They were our friends. Linda who was injured in an accident which became my greatest success. She was beautiful, caring and forgiving. Our contact was limited but I can remember her smile. May her memory be a blessing
