Barry James Obituary

BRADFORD - Barry C. James, Sr. 83, of Tomaquag Valley Farm died peacefully on Monday January 27, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Foster) James.

Born in Westerly, RI, on July 18, 1941, he was the son of the late Harold C. and Barbara (Barrie) James.

A life-long farmer he owned and operated Tomaquag Valley Dairy Farm and Tomaquag Valley Milk Transportation Inc. He was a member of the Rhode Island Farm Bureau, Agri-mark and one of the founding members of the Rhody Fresh Milk.

Besides his loving and devoted wife of over 63 years he will be sadly missed by his two children, Brenda S. Smith and Barry C. James, Jr. (Bridget). He also leaves 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane James, son-in-law, David Smith and brother, Edwin D. James.

The James family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday February 2, 2025, from 12-3 at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI. Following the calling hours there will be a celebration of life at the Bradford Citizens Club, 124 Woody Hill Rd, Bradford, RI. Funeral service and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations in Barry's memory may be made to the Rhode Island 4-H Club Foundation PO Box 1925, Kingston, RI 02881
