Donald Benson Obituary

Donald Ray Benson
Nov. 22, 1947 - Sept. 22, 2023
Donald Ray Benson, 75, passed away Sept. 22, 2023, in Federal Way, Wash. He was born Nov. 22, 1947, in Renton, Wash., to Irma and Henry Benson.
In his younger years, Don won many SCCA Conference and Solo auto crossing car races with his cherished 1969 Camaro. In later years, square dancing became his passion. In 2015 he began working with Silver City Squares, a square dance youth group.
Don's inquisitive, encyclopedic mind and willingness to share his knowledge will be missed by all who knew him. He had a strong desire to understand how anything mechanical worked and often devised better methods.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Irma and Henry Benson; brother, Jack Benson; and nephew, Eric Benson. He is survived by his brothers, Roy (Lynnae) and Larry (Marissa) Benson; sister, Karen Kulin (Stephen); eight nieces and nephews; and Jessica Ralston, to whom he was a "father figure."
A service will be held at 12 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, at Weeks Enumclaw Funeral Home, 1810 Wells Street, Enumclaw, WA.
Memorial contributions may be made to Silver City Squares in Portland or any youth group for disadvantaged kids.

Don was an amazing man, and one heck of a machinist. We made F35 parts together and had a great mutual respect for the trade. He is greatly missed.

I will miss Don. He has always been there for me. Just knowing he had my back. He was my go to guy for any questions I had. He always had the answer and/or where to find it. He was my best friend and always will be.
