Charles and Merrill
I haven't been back to Shelter Island for quite a while, but one of my favorite memories of my summers there is of the softball games your father organized on the hotel grounds every weekend before barbecues at the beach club. I remember him as an incredibly kind and positive man who I always enjoyed talking with. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Sincerely,
Mike Badger

To the Family of Bill Buice,
I was one of the lucky people who got to know and love and spend a great deal of time with Bill Buice. From my first time meeting him at Asheville School I was taken by his friendly demeanor, absolute brilliance in almost everything, calm, guiding hand when needed, good, solid advice at all times. He was a mentor to me on the Board and taught me well but became a great friend as well over time and over many meals and glasses of wine. A finer gentleman would be hard to find. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially me and the Asheville School.

As a former recipient of the William T. Buice III Scholarship at Rare Book School, I was saddened to hear Bill's passing. I am sorry that I never got to meet him, but always felt deep gratitude and admiration for Bill's generous support of books and learning. My condolences to Bill's family and friends.

My condolences on the passing of a true gentleman. I knew Bill through the University Club and our shared love of books. I always looked forward to working with Bill on committees and, even more, to sharing time with him in general, as his warmth, positivity, and great sense of humor, coupled with his sharp mind, made for the most pleasant experiences no matter what the setting or challenge. It was always a true joy to see Bill. May his memory bring you comfort.
