Janet Elaine Harwood
Janet E. (Sally) Harwood, passed away peacefully on the 3rd of February, 2026, in Barrington, Illinois. Born on September 26, 1934, in New Haven, Connecticut to Ellsworth and Marjorie (Moore) Siemon, Sally's life was a testament to her faith-filled spirit and her unwavering dedication to her family.
Sally's early years in New Haven laid the foundation for a life characterized by caring and support for others. Her nurturing nature was evident as she lovingly cared for her mother and many others throughout her life. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in McHenry most of her life which shone through in every interaction with family and friends.
Sally married the love of her life, Robert, Sr. on July 7, 1956, at St. Patrick's Church in McHenry.
Her legacy is carried on by her devoted children, Michael and his wife, Paulette, Peter, Peggy and her husband, Charles Dostal, and Mary and her husband, Tom Redmond. Sally was a cherished grandmother, taking immense joy in her many grand and great-grandchildren, forging an exceptional bond with Georgia and Ellis, who held a special place in her heart. Her warmth and guidance also extended to her many nieces and nephews, who will remember her fondly.
Sally is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Sr. in 2010, a son, Robert L. Jr, in 2020, her parents and her siblings, Betty Stastny, Bud Siemon and Nancy Sweeney.
Sally's passions were a reflection of her caring personality. An avid counted cross-stitcher, she created beautiful works of art that were a testament to her patience and attention to detail. Her culinary skills were unparalleled, as she baked and cooked for her family, filling their home with the aromas of love and comfort. Her garden was a labor of love, a place where she cultivated not only plants but also joy and peace, with a particular fondness for the cardinals that would visit her yard. Sally also found satisfaction in completing jigsaw puzzles and indulging in her love for sticker books, activities that mirrored her methodical and creative nature.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10am at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, McHenry, IL. A Mass will be held at 11:00 am followed by burial in the Church Cemetery.
