Darlene (Harvel) Logan, 94, of Maple Hills, NC, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026
She was born on April 25, 1931, in McHenry County, IL to Lloyd and Emily (Hardesty) Harvel. She grew up on a farm in Dundee, now known as Raceway Woods. Darlene graduated from Dundee High School, class of 1949. She spent most of her life in Illinois, residing in Dundee, Carpentersville, McHenry and Warsaw. On August 15, 1986, she married Charles Logan in Shelbina, MO.
Darlene was a lifetime member of the American Legion, worked for many years as a waitress, and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed bluegrass music, watching basketball and cheering for the Chicago Cubs. Everyone knew her favorite color was purple.
She and Charley had many years of traveling, camping, fishing and boating with the kids and grandkids on the Chain of Lakes.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Colleen) Zimmerman of Elgin, IL, Randall Zimmerman of High Point ,NC, Melody Harris of Maple Hill, NC, Michael (Elaine) Zimmerman of Lake Zurich IL, Douglas of IL and Scott (Theresa) Zimmerman of Jacksonville NC. She also is survived by 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Dee of Princeton, IL; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Emily; husband, Charles; brothers, Donald, Douglas, Daniel, Dennis, Dale and David; sisters Dawn Lowery and Donna Spencer; daughter, Marie in infancy; great-grandson, Jacob; great-granddaughter, Olivia; and granddaughter, Sherry.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 11th from 10 to 11 a.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home 823 Broadway Street, Quincy, IL. A chapel service will be at 11 a.m., followed by a vehicle procession to the graveside services at Quincy Memorial Park, 5300 Broadway, Quincy, IL.
