It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Beatrice Joyce Schaefer, who left us on February 8, 2026, at the age of 97. Beatrice departed this world surrounded by the warmth and love of her family in the comfort of her home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, love, and community service.
Born on June 26, 1928, in Chicago, IL, Beatrice was the cherished daughter of Maximillion and Harriet Kasper. Beatrice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Schaefer, with whom she shared a marriage filled with love and respect since their union on January 6, 1951. She also joins her parents, her brother Jerry, sister-in-law Pat, and her son Daniel in eternal peace.
Beatrice was a woman of intellect and determination. She graduated from Kelvin Park High School in Chicago, where she laid the foundation for a life of continuous learning. Her career saw her touch many as she worked in the Barrington Middle School kitchen and later bringing her creativity and culinary skills to the test kitchen at Quaker Oats.
Her commitment to her community was unwavering. Beatrice was an active member of St. Peter and Paul Church and contributed her time and energy to the Women's Knights of Columbus. Her dedication to service extended beyond her immediate community, and in her honor, the family suggests donations be made to your local food pantry, a cause close to her heart.
Beatrice's family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her loving children, Bobbie and Bill (Glassberg), David Schaefer and Jill Erickson,
Laura and Rob (Slayden), and Vicki Schaefer. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her six grandchildren, Tony, Jennifer, Kaat, Nicholas, Heather, and David, and her six great-grandchildren, Hadley, Brinley, William, Anna, Sarah, and Matthew.
Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, Beatrice Joyce Schaefer's spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Mass at St Peter and Paul Church in Cary, Illinois, will be held to honor her memory on Saturday, May 16 at 10:30 a.m., followed by internment at St. John's Cemetery in Fox River Grove. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who have expressed their condolences and support during this time of sorrow.
