Charles Frye Obituary

Charles Layton Frye, 93, of Mt. Jackson, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 23, at 1:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Service in Edinburg. Pastor Brent Hockema will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Edinburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Frye was born March 14, 1932 in Mt. Jackson, son of the late Paul J. Frye and Ruth Marie Knupp Frye. He was a US Navy veteran and formerly worked at Merilatt. He was a member of Smith Creek Baptist Church in New Market. He was preceded in death by his wife Marguerite Sams Frye; stepdaughter, Dorothy Williams and three brothers, Raymond, Milton and Carroll Frye.

He is survived by two brothers, Lawrence Frye and Norman Lee Frye both of Mt. Jackson; three sisters, Marie Neff of Maurertown and Louella Walters Kibler and Roulette Copp both of Maurertown; two stepsons, Thomas Pritt of Martinsburg, WVA and Robert Pritt of Mt. Jackson; 6 step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Jackson Rescue and Fire Department or Smith Creek Baptist Church. Online condolences may be left at valleyfs.com
