William E. Martin, Sr. 76 of North Plainfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26 at RWJUH Somerset with his loving family by his side. Born in Steubenville, OH, he was the son of the late William H and Margaret (Knight) Martin.
William had a love for cars and motorcycles. Whether it was classic cars, NASCAR or what he did for a living, cars were at the center of William's life. He worked as an auto body/painter for Green Brook GMC for many years. His other great love was for his family, his wife Anne, his children and his nieces and nephews. William will be deeply missed by all who know him.
Besides his parents, William is predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Douglass Martin, his sisters Dortha Wadnick and Debra Martin, as well as by his great grandson Amari Murray. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Anne (Novagrod) Martin, his son William, Jr. he is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Moore and Katie Passe as well as by his brother Jay Martin. William is also survived by his 2 granddaughters Heather Murray and Brianna Tunison, his 3 Great grandchildren, Leilana Cavanaugh, Nasir Murray and Stella Tunison and by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, July 2 from 4:00-8:00 at Memorial Funeral Home in Fanwood. There will be a brief service at 10:00am at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 3 followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.

I remember when William (Butch) and Anne married and came to Ohio as a honeymoon couple.
Through the years when visiting family in Ohio Butch always would stop by his Aunt Josephine's to say hello.
Never forgotten always loved and remembered as Butch and Anne.
