Virginia Hewitson Obituary

Virginia Mary Flynn Hewitson, 89, of Lake Como, New Jersey passed away peacefully in Hospice on March 21, 2025. Beloved wife of Warren Kehrwieder. Devoted mother of Debra Hewitson and her husband Thomas Berry of Franklin Lakes, NJ; Dr. Joseph Hewitson and his wife Paula Lenna Hewitson of San Francisco, CA; Donald Hewitson and his wife Jeanmarie La Guardia Hewitson of Glen Gardner, NJ; and Noreen Hewitson of Ridgewood, NJ. Predeceased by her ex-spouse Joseph W. Hewitson. Sister of Robert Flynn, and the late Patricia Williams, John Flynn, Noreen Simpson and Marilyn Frankovic. Adored grandmother of Samantha, Sara, Julie, Tara, James, and Matthew. Predeceased by her grandson Joseph James Hewitson. Cherished great-grandmother of Raegan, MacKinley, Henry, Frederick, Charlotte and Christopher. While raising her family, our mother began attending classes at NYU and the New School and settled into her career as a paralegal on Park Avenue, commuting into Manhattan by train for 30 years. In her retirement she took great pride in creating a beautiful beach home in Lake Como, New Jersey.
"Ginny" enjoyed politics, bicycling, gardening, the beach, decorating and was a lifelong avid reader. In her later years, she especially enjoyed swimming at the south end Spring Lake Bathing Pavilion., Ginny had an infectious laugh, the Irish gift of storytelling and love of family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
There will be a viewing at Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Ave, Roseland, NJ, Thursday March 27 from 10 to 11am. Mass will follow at 1130am at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 28 Livingston Ave, Roseland NJ. Interment will be at Gate of Haven Cemetery, 235 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ.
