Umbelina (Nunes) Carvalho, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, surrounded by her family and friends. Born in Boticas, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Albino Nunes and the late Maria (Sanches) Nunes.
On her coming to the United States in 1958, she worked for many years as a seamstress for Grinnell Pajamas. Umbelina enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She found great happiness in traveling and her many coffee dates with friends.
She is survived by her sons, Ryan Carvalho and his wife Stacey of Ft. Worth, TX and Mark DaSilva of Acushnet; grandchildren, Jake DaSilva, Dylan Carvalho and Riley Carvalho; brother, Joe Nunes; sister, Lucilia DaSilva.
Umbelina's Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 9am at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
