Tonja R. (Shafer) Miller, 60, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, surrounded by her family in the caring hands of JourneyCare Hospice.
Those who knew Tonja will remember her fiery spirit. She never missed an opportunity to tell you or show you that you can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl.
Tonja was preceded in death by her parents, Sandra K. Bryant and Robert E. Shafer; Her grandparents, Elaine Chelf, Charles Ellis “Preach” Gibson, and Robert O. and Lillian Shafer.
She is survived by her son, Tiler J. Miller; Fiancé, Charles Redman; Brother, Jeff (Linda) Shafer; Sister, Janette (Peter Cleary) Bryant. Tonja was a beloved aunt and is survived by her nieces and nephews, Jake (Morgan) Shafer, Luke Shafer, Olivia (Jackson) Nichols, Emma (Andy) Richter, Jack Miller, Kayla (Jack) Hotinger, Megan (Cody) Lindstrom and Natalie Miller. She is also survived by her beloved best friend Gina Litvack of Prosper, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association of Greater Chicago (alsunitedchicago.org) or JourneyCare Home Health & Hospice (journeycare.org/donate).
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry St. Sandwich, IL 60548. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with a graveside service to follow out to Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.beveragefamilyfh.com
