Theresa Marie Schillers, 78, of Centertown, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 12, 1948, in
Loose Creek, Missouri, to the late Herman John and Margaret (Schmitz) Haslag. Theresa attended Loose Creek Schools and on June 4, 1966, she married the love of her life, Gerhard "Gary" Henry Schillers, in Loose Creek. He preceded her in death.
Theresa was a hardworking woman her entire life. She worked for McGraw Edison, and later devoted her time as a stay-at-home mother. She also provided cleaning and maintenance services for Betty Steck and worked for Henrietta Boessen's Catering for 15 years until 1997. Theresa went on to serve as Head Cook at Helias High School, where she worked until her retirement in 2019.
A faithful member of St. Martin Catholic Church, Theresa had a deep love for animals, especially horses. She was a proud member of the American Quarter Horse Association and cherished her horses Sugar, Candy, Copper, and Rex. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, and farm life, particularly checking on her cattle and preparing them for sale.
She is survived by her three sons: Gary Schillers (Jeanie) of Russellville, Mike Schillers of Centertown, and Randy Schillers (Cindy) of Jefferson City; five grandchildren: Anthony, Heather, Zach, and David Schillers, and Tyler Hutchinson; six great-grandchildren: Aiden Tellor, Wendel Lee, Carson Schillers, Jackson Schillers, Ava Schillers, and Sauier Schillers; and her brother, Vincent Haslag (Janice).
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary; her brother, Cletus Haslag; and her sister, Elizabeth Reichel.
Friends will be received on Thursday January 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Cpt. Nicholas J. Reid as celebrant. Interment at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Theresa's name to St. Martin Catholic Church.
