Tempie Dean Threats Moore - a radiant beacon of love and faith - was a cherished daughter of the late Joshua Threats and Gussie Carlton Threats. Born on the gentle, autumn-kissed fifth of September in 1931, in the serene realms of Geneva County, Alabama, Tempie's odyssey commenced within the warm embrace of a Christian home. Here, the seeds of knowledge were sown deeply, and devotion to the Lord reigned supreme, her life shining as a testament to these enduring values. From an early age, Tempie exhibited a natural curiosity and a boundless enthusiasm for learning. Her childhood was filled with the joys of discovering the world around her, guided by the wisdom of her parents and the teachings of her faith. As she grew, Tempie's compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication to her community became evident to all who knew her.
A beacon of inspiration in both her personal and professional realms, Tempie, a cherished alumnus of Riverside High School, epitomized the spirit of lifelong learning and the relentless pursuit of knowledge. Her commitment to serving the Lord radiated with steadfast fervor. Embracing Christ at a tender age, she blossomed into a cherished member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church family, where her melodious gifts illuminated the community as the youth choir director. Her spirit of servitude flourished within the Ladies Aid Society, Pastors Aid, and as a devoted usher, all while gracing the Eastern Star with her presence. With a heart filled with compassion and a genuine desire to uplift those around her, Tempie's influence extended far beyond the walls of the church. She was a mentor to many, offering guidance and support with unparalleled kindness and understanding. Her dedication to education was equally profound; she tirelessly advocated for the importance of learning, inspiring countless young minds to reach for their dreams.
In her professional endeavors, Tempie was renowned for her innovative approach and unwavering integrity. Her colleagues admired her for her ability to lead with empathy, fostering an environment of collaboration and respect. Whether orchestrating community events or spearheading initiatives to support local charities, her leadership was marked by a deep sense of purpose and a commitment to making a positive impact.
Within the sacred haven of worship, Tempie's spiritual odyssey flourished at Daleville Christian Fellowship Worship Center. There, she stood resolutely on the Mother's Board, guiding others with a gentle yet steadfast conviction that illuminated the path for many who sought her radiant example. Her journey echoes the poignant wisdom of Mother Teresa: "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." In every act, in each service, Tempie wove threads of profound love, elevating the spirits of all fortunate enough to bask in her grace.
With warmth enveloping her heart and a melody dancing in her soul, Tempie celebrated the sacred union of love and partnership as she intertwined her life with Leamon Moore. Their bond, sanctified by shared faith and unwavering commitment, transcended the earthly realm. Though he journeyed ahead in their ascent, their united spirits crafted a legacy of devotion that soared beyond the confines of time. It stands as a testament to the enduring essence of love - a beacon, a guiding star - continuing to illuminate the memories of all whom she graced. Each day, as Tempie went about her life, she carried with her the gentle echoes of their shared laughter and whispered dreams. Friends and family gathered often, drawn by the warmth of her presence and the stories she told of their adventures and dreams. Her words painted vivid pictures of their life together, inspiring others to cherish the moments they had with their own loved ones.
In quiet moments, Tempie found solace in her garden, where the vibrant blooms seemed to sway in rhythm with the love that filled her heart. It was here that she felt closest to Leamon, as if he were beside her, marveling at the beauty of nature. She tended to the flowers with care, each petal a reminder of their shared journey and the promise of love eternal.
As the seasons changed, so did Tempie, growing in wisdom and grace. She became a pillar of strength and kindness in her community, her life a testament to the power of love to heal, uplift, and transform. Her legacy, like the eternal stars, continued to shine brightly, touching the lives of all who knew her.
Though Tempie has ascended to join her cherished spouse and her three radiant angels - Celestine Moore Cooper, Earnestine Moore, and Ester Lene Moore - alongside two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters, her legacy shines brightly. Tempie was the beloved sister to her late siblings: Mary Threats, Van Walker, Janice Valrie, and Dorothy Threats; and her brothers: Buford Threats, Joshua Way Threats, Ray Threats, and Clifford Threats. Her brother Jimmy Threats stands steadfast, honoring her memory - exemplifying a testament to the unbreakable ties of family.
In a family blessed with the gift of longevity and woven with the vibrant threads of cherished memories, Mother Tempie stood as a steadfast pillar of strength and a wellspring of wisdom. Her children, who will forever hold her in their hearts with deep affection and gratitude, include: Raymond (Karen) Moore; Mary (Donnell) Warren; and Janice Whipple. They will carry forth the echoes of her joyous laughter and the unwavering support that served as the bedrock of their lives. Tempie's laughter and steadfast encouragement have been the guiding lights as they journey through their own paths. Moreover, she embraced her role as a godmother with heartfelt devotion, nurturing a special bond with her god-daughter: Pamela McNair Sikes, and her god-son: Retired Chief Warrant Officer Five Rufus Montgomery - connections that transcended the mere ties of blood.
Her beloved grandchildren, lovingly bestowed the title of matriarch by those around her, shall cherish her treasured golden memories for eternity. Americus "Princess" Washington, William "Spud" Cooper, Tara Katina (Mark) Smith, Pamela Celeste (Calvin) Lane, James Strickland, Candelaria Moore, Robert (Nicole) Cooper, III, Sabrina Moore, Vincent Warren, Raymond Moore, Jr., and Kyle (Lindsay) Moore; alongside ten (10) great-grandchildren and eleven (11) great-great-grandchildren, each hold a unique and cherished place within her vast heart. A distinguished branch of her family tree is The Honorable Mayor, Dr. William "Bill" Cooper, Sr., a son-in-law whose unwavering loyalty and affection for Tempie radiated like the steadfast glow of a guiding star.
Tempie Dean Threats Moore's life journey resonates profoundly with the wisdom of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." As we gather to honor and bid farewell to Our Queen, we celebrate the profound love and lasting mark she has etched upon the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of faith, love, and unwavering strength shall be a radiant torch carried forward by those who tread the path she lovingly laid.
