Sue Postel, 79, died peacefully, Sunday morning, March 16, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
The family will be gathering on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 2 until 5 to remember Sue at the Anamosa Bow Hunters where Sue is an honored lifetime member. They ask friends and family to join them but request no flowers. Instead send a memorial to Jones Regional Hospital Emergency Department or a charity of choice in Sue's name.
Surviving are her children Amy (Loren) Lacy, Todd (Monica) Postel, grandchildren, Mallory (Joel) Downing, Madison (Tim) Wallander, Bridgett (Jason) Bowers, Tommy (Hannah Behrends) Postel and the light of her life, her little ones, great-grandchildren, Lucy and Hendrick Wallander, Remi, Karter, Brooks and Mila Downing, Mason, Jack and Sawyer Bowers, her siblings, Lynette Morrison, Mary (Butch) Postel, Sarah Cole. She was preceded by her parents, her husband Tom in 1984, an infant daughter Karrie, and a brother David.
Sandra Sue Cole was born April 27, 1945, at Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Ransel and Lucille Alpers, Cole. Sue graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools in 1963. She started working at Collins Radio at age 18. She married Thomas Postel on July 27, 1963. Sue retired from Collins in 2003.
Sue enjoyed cooking and serving meals at the Bow Hunter Club every Wednesday night forever. She also cooked and enjoyed being part of Wapsi Country Club where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame. She was always ready to help Amy anytime at Prairie Moon On Main.
Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and now her great-grandchildren who spent a great deal of time with her in her bed, holding hands during her final days.
