Shirley Ann Scott, age 86, passed away September 15, 2025 in Richmond MO. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 12:00-1:00PM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. A funeral service will begin at 1:00PM with a graveside service to follow at Crowley Cemetery, Rayville, Missouri. Shirley was born on May 24, 1939 to Lillian and Millard McClaren in rural Sullivan County, MO.

She was their 2nd child joining a brother, Phillip and later a little sister, Sunny. Shirley lovingly referred to her as her Sunshine. Shirley was raised around the Milan and Purdin area. She graduated from New Cambria High School in 1957.

She then attended one year at Missouri State Teacher's College in Kirksville. She moved to Kansas City and worked as a file clerk. She was a member of the Church of God 7th Day and attended the sister church to the one back home. The Kansas City Church of God 7th Day was where she was introduced to the love of her life and future husband, Tommie Scott. Her friend and future sister-in- law (Shirley Harrelson) arranged the meeting at her home. Shirley said it was love at first sight. On Dec 31, 1967 they were united in marriage. They made their home in Excelsior Springs.

Tommie began a 30 year career at Ford Motor Company and Shirley blessed him with four children. She was a homemaker and some of her hobbies included writing, cooking, playing games with her grandchildren, reading her bible and sharing the gospel. She loved the outdoors and nature.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tommie K Scott, daughter; Laurel Ann, grandson; David High, a grand-daughter; Allyson Shroyer, a great grand-daughter; Amber High, her brother; Phillip McClaren, her sister and brother-in-law; Sunny and Benny Owens.

She is survived by three children; Tom (Kristina) Scott, Timothy (Effie) Scott, Lisa (Donald) Scott Moore, her sister-in-laws; Loretta McClaren, Sheryl Acton, and Carolyn Stanfield. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and many great grand children, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Richmond, Missouri.
