Sheila Marie Johnson, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in her home. Born on December 2, 1938, in Plymouth, IN, Sheila's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and service, woven through the years with the threads of joy and kindness.
Sheila was the beloved daughter of the late Paul L. and Corinne I. (Gottschalk) Sherer. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Sherer and her sister-in-law, Brenda Sherer. Her memory will be treasured by her brother, Steve Sherer, her sister-in-law, Val Sherer and her nieces and nephews, Melissa (Ryan) Coverstone, Shanda (Brent) Ruemler, Candice (Tony) Criswell, and Kevin (Rebecca) Sherer, who will miss her deeply.
Throughout her life, Sheila was a model of hard work and commitment. She spent many years performing office work at Bendix, where she formed lasting friendships and connections. Her dedication to her work was evident, and she continued to engage with her former colleagues through Bendix reunions and luncheons, cherishing the bonds she had built over the years.
Sheila's passion for Notre Dame Women's Basketball was unmatched. She not only cheered for the team but also volunteered her time and energy to support the program. Her love for the game and her community spirit were an inspiration to many.
In addition to her love for sports, Sheila had a creative side that was expressed through her enjoyment of sewing. Her skillful hands crafted beautiful pieces that brought warmth and beauty into the lives of those around her. Sheila's creativity and attention to detail were evident in every stitch.
Sheila's life was one of service, not only to her family and friends but also to her church and community. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was an active member of Clay United Methodist Church. Her involvement in the church was a testament to her belief in giving back and supporting the spiritual growth of those around her.
The Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements, ensuring that Sheila's final farewell is as beautiful and dignified as the life she led.
Sheila Marie Johnson's journey on earth has ended, but her spirit remains a guiding light for all who knew her. As we say goodbye, we also say thank you – for the laughter, the love, and the precious moments that will forever be a part of us.
