Sharon Griffin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marietta Funeral Home & Crematory - Marietta on Feb. 6, 2026.
Sharon "Nonnie" Diane Griffin
November 10, 1943 – January 28, 2026

Sharon Diane Griffin, born November 10, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away
peacefully at her home in Hiram, Georgia, on January 28, 2026.

Sharon spent her early years in Homestead, Florida, before her family returned to
Atlanta, where she later graduated from Sprayberry High School in Marietta in 1961. A
creative and compassionate soul, Sharon loved creating stained glass, getting lost in a
good book and participating in many bowling leagues over the years.

She dedicated much of her professional life to caring for others, working as a preschool
teacher at Covenant Presbyterian Church and later with Wellstar Health Systems on the
mobile mammogram van, where her warmth and sense of humor made a lasting impression.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Leon C. Smith and Dorothy Anne Smith.
her brother, Dennis Smith; and her beloved son, Michael Francis Griffin, Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Michael "Mickey" Francis Griffin, Sr. -
- her partner, her constant, and the love of her life; her daughter, Lisa Michelle Ragsdale
of Canton, Georgia; and her son, Christopher Thomas Griffin of Lake Worth Beach,
Florida, and his husband, Lee Keever. She also leaves behind her siblings: her brother,
Michael Smith of Cumming, Georgia, and his wife Patty Smith; and her sister, Kathleen
Reed of Kennesaw, Georgia, and her husband, Norman Reed. Sharon is also survived
by her lifelong best friend of more than 60 years, Connie Bryant.

If you knew Sharon, you knew family came first. Known lovingly as "Nonnie," she
adored her grandchildren Sean Ragsdale and his wife Anna Ragsdale, James Michael
"Mickey" Ragsdale and his wife Lauren Ragsdale; and Bryce Hilgemann; as well as great-grandchildren, Brayden, Bryson, Berkley, Baleigh, Harley, and Ember all of whom brought her endless joy and pride. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Interment will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Georgia National
Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. A celebration of Sharon's life will follow at a family home - with stories, laughter, and probably some side-eye, exactly how Sharon would want it.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney
Foundation in honor of Sharon and her son, Mike, whom she carried in her heart every
day.
