Scott Matthes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Messinger Mortuaries-Pinnacle Peak Mortuary on Jan. 20, 2026.
Scott Jason Matthes passed away on January 10, 2026, at the age of 54. Born on November 6, 1971, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, Scott spent his younger years of life in Pennsylvania where he graduated from Radnor High School.
From a young age, Scott had a deep love for sports and friendships. He played baseball, basketball and golf, excelling in the game of golf he loved most. His passion and talent earned him a PGA Scholarship to New Mexico State University, an achievement he was notably proud of. Golf remained a constant in his life and the golf course was his favorite place to be, a place he felt most at peace.
Scott made his home in Arizona, where he continued to build a life surrounded by family and friends. Above all else, he was a devoted father to his two beautiful daughters, his greatest treasures, whom were the light of his life. He adored them beyond measure, taking endless pride in their accomplishments, in their kindness and the strength they showed; they brought his life its deepest joy and meaning.
He was a loving uncle to his nephew and niece who adored and looked up to him. As an uncle, he was a source of happiness, love and encouragement, always ready to support and inspire. To his sister, he was a constant source of strength, friendship, laughter, guidance and unwavering love, a presence she could always count on; and in every way the coolest companion she could have asked for.
A true dog lover, Scott had a deep and abiding love for his dogs, who were his constant companions throughout his life. True to his sense of fun, he had an affectionate tradition of naming each one with an "M". Over the years, he shared his home and his heart with Mason, Maggie, Milo, Molly and Moose.
Scott treasured his family and friendships, being known for his larger-than-life personality. In the heart of his friends, those who knew him best, live endless stories of his humor, his laughter and the hilarity that made every moment memorable and bright. Scott was authentic in everything he did, he carried determination, a good-natured competitive spirit and a gift for one liners that could lighten any moment.
With a playful spirit, a deeply human heart and an adventurous nature, Scott was exceptionally himself in every season of life. His light, his humor and his unforgettable spirit will continue to shine in the lives of all whom he shared his lifetime beside. He now rests in the loving embrace of his mother, Alice Jean Matthes, reunited once more, in eternal peace.
He is survived by his father Albert Bradford Matthes, former wife, Jessica Potvin, his two loving children, daughters Avery Grace Matthes and Audrey Reese Matthes, his beloved sister Kelly Anne Yurick, her husband Stephen John Yurick III, nephew Stephen John Yurick IV and niece Emma Anne Yurick.
