Sarah Ivey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by River Glenn Cremations & Funeral Services on Jan. 27, 2026.
Sarah Katheryn Ivey, lovingly known as "Kathy," age 67, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 24, 2025. She was born on March 4, 1958, in Odessa, Texas, to Jo Lavon Breeden, known to many as "Lillian," and Clifford Eugene Ivey.

Kathy was educated at Lompoc High School and later attended Santa Barbara Business College. Throughout her life, she was known for her strong opinions, fierce independence, and her determination to live life unapologetically on her own terms. Kathy embraced who she was without compromise, a quality that those who knew her will never forget.

Above all else, Kathy deeply loved her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, and cherished her role as Granny to Victoria and Bryson. Her joy came from the simple pleasures in life-time with her family, her beloved cats, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and enjoying a good Bloody Mary-though not always in that order.

She is survived by her daughter, Venita "Chelly" Ivey and husband Jack Hatman of Kibler, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Victoria Greer and fiancé Kevin Chow of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Bryson Dugan of Pocola, Oklahoma; her brothers, Daniel "Fred" Ivey of California and David Ivey of Oklahoma; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Clifford Ivey, and her eldest brother, Larry Allen.

Kathy will be remembered for her candid spirit and unwavering independence. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services.
