Phelps, Rose M. Smith, age 91, died on Tuesday March 11, 2025 at Geneva Living Center North.
Friends may call on Monday (March 17) from 4-6pm at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps. Private burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
It is requested that memorial donations be made to Sampson Naval Museum 6096 NY-96A Romulus, NY 14541 or Happy Tails Humane Society 2976 CO RD 8 Canandaigua, NY 14424.
Rose was born on April 15, 1933 in Newark, NY the daughter of the late Rocco and Angela Viola Richichi. She was a 1952 graduate of Newark High School. In 1952 she met her husband Walter Smith and they married in 1953. After Walt's death in 1994, Rose went to work at the Sampson Naval Museum for 18 years. She also owned and operated Style Hut with her daughter and worked with her since 1977. She attended Continental School of Beauty. Rose Volunteered at the Phelps Historical Society, played in the Phelps Croquet Club and played Dominos every Wednesday at the Howe House. She was also a member of the Phelps Lions Club. Rose was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
Rose is survived by her daughter Karen Moracco of Phelps Grandson Josh Moracco of Waterloo Many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Smith Son in law Dan Moracco Brother Rocco Richichi Jr. Sisters Theresa and Jenny
