Richard Paul Parker passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, at his home in Summerville, SC. He was born on July 2nd, 1948, in Burlington, Vermont to the late Leward Parker and Rita Boisjoli Parker.
Richard served in the United States Navy after graduating high school. He was a Vietnam Veteran and later attended College of Charleston to obtain a bachelor's degree in economics. He married the love of his life, Sherrie Brown Parker, and they spent many years together. He had many enjoyments in life including ski diving, jet skiing, traveling and most of all, spending time with his beloved family. Richard worked for Frito Lay as a chip distributor for many years until his retirement. He was known for his quick wit and was a natural when it came to mathematics. Richard was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a much beloved husband, father grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrie Parker; his daughter, Laura Parker (Ester Behar); his stepdaughter, Laura Godley; his grandchildren: Aviva Behar, Ari Behar and Joelle Behar; as well as his dogs: Milo, Molly and Maizy.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 South Main Street, Summerville, SC 29483. A graveside service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229, on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, at 11:00am.
