In Loving Memory of Richard Thomas Larson
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Richard T. Larson on January 29, 2025, at the age of 62. Rich was born on October 25, 1962 in Mobridge, South Dakota to Morris and Rita Larson. He grew up and graduated high school in Rapid City, South Dakota. Rich was a loving father, son, brother, and friend.
As a long-time IT director for Miami County, Rich was always known for his candor and humor. Respected amongst his colleagues, he would always find a way to help whenever anyone needed him. In his free time, Rich enjoyed playing cards, spending time outdoors, and was an avid BBQ-er. He loved having big groups of friends and family come over to eat on the patio and spend time together, all while having a great time listening to country music. As the gathering would continue into the evening, you always found Rich two-stepping with anyone who wanted to join.
It would be remiss to not mention how much Rich loved his sons. One of the biggest joys he had was coaching his sons and watching them in a variety of sports. If Cody, Kade or Noah were playing a game, or coaching one, you could always find him in the stands cheering them on. If they showed an interest in something new, their father would always research it as much as possible to try to help them. Rich's proudest moments were seeing his three boys succeed not only in sports, but in life as well.
Rich is survived by his three sons Cody Larson, Kade (Katie) Larson and grandson Colson, and Noah Larson, as well as his sister Patricia (Dan) Kruse. He was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Rita Larson, his brother Bill Larson, and sister Cheryl Greenwell.
A celebration of Rich's life and memorial mass will take place on Saturday April 5th, 2025.
The visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, with Mass immediately following, both at Queen of the Holy Rosary - Wea in Bucyrus, KS. There will be a private interment at a later date. While the family appreciates any flowers, your thoughts and presence with them are most important at this time.
