Reggie Darnell Gordon was born on Monday, June 30, 1969, to the late George and Mattie Pearl Gordon in Newark, New Jersey. He was the youngest out of seven children. Reggie died on Monday, March 17, 2025, in Rahway, New Jersey.
Reggie was raised by a loving, close knit family. His family meant the world to him. Growing up on Lincoln Street, everyone knew the Gordon kids, and they knew if you messed with one of them, you messed with all of them! Reggie was educated in the Newark Public School System. He attended Quitman Street Elementary School and West Kinney Alternative High School. After high school, he went to study a skilled trade at Casadega Job Corps Center in upstate New York.
Reggie worked for Newark Public Housing and Special Audience. He enjoyed helping his community by providing outreach and awareness. Reggie never met a stranger he did not like. He was kind-hearted and generous. Reggie was the type of person who would make you laugh while helping you out of a tough situation. Reggie was known for his comedic nature and his beautiful smile. Reggie would give you the shirt off his back.
Reggie helped raise his nieces and nephews after the death of his beloved big sister Barbara. The family banded together and became closer helping to look after Eli, Aniyyah, Briannah and Onyea.
Reggie was full of life, and he loved his big brother Gregory (AKA Sony) and his nephew Eli. They were all tight. Watching football on Sundays became a weekend tradition that Gregory and Reggie looked forward to. Reggie's favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. Everyone knows that Gregory loves the Jets and that meant that on any given Sunday when Gregory and Reggie got together, there was going to be some smack and trash talking.
Reggie was preceded in death by his sisters, Phyllis and Renetta, then his father, George, and brother, Stevie, sister, Barbarba, mother, Mattie Pearl, and brother, Georgie.
Reggie is survived by his loving brother, Gregory Gordon (Darnisha) of Linden, NJ; nieces and nephew, Kyiesha Gordon of Newark, NJ, Elijawuan Gordon of Newark, NJ, Aniyyah Bishop of Newark, NJ, Briannah Bishop of Brooklyn, NY, Onyea Troxler of Staten Island, NY, and Arayah Gordon of Newark, NJ; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
