Rebecca J. Richter, 72, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025. She was born on November 19, 1952, to Jewell and Helen (Kay) Boler in Mishawaka, IN. She grew up in a loving household where creativity, kindness, and compassion were valued, qualities she carried with her throughout her life.
Rebecca's life was marked by deep love, both for her family and the things that brought her joy. On June 14, 1986, she married Robert D. Richter, Sr., the love of her life. Together, they shared 34 wonderful years of marriage before Robert's passing on November 28, 2020. Their bond was a testament to the strength of love and devotion, and even after Robert's death, Rebecca continued to carry him in her heart.
Rebecca was known for her creativity and craftiness, which were evident in everything she did. She was a master of several crafts, with a special passion for painting, ceramics, and needlepoint. Her hands, skilled in knitting and crochet, would work magic into every project, whether it was a beautiful scarf, a cozy blanket, or intricate pieces of art. She not only loved to create but was also a natural teacher, passing on her knowledge to others with patience and a gentle hand. Her ability to patiently guide others to find their own creative expression was something that those around her greatly admired.
A lover of puzzles, Rebecca enjoyed the challenge they presented and would often be found immersed in a jigsaw puzzle or a crossword. This love for puzzles reflected her personality: thoughtful, methodical, and always striving to complete things with care and precision. She took great pleasure in spending time with her friends, sharing her laughter, her company, and her infectious positive energy. Rebecca was always the one to brighten up a room, offering a listening ear, a kind word, and a much-needed dose of humor. Her chuckles and the warmth of her laughter will be missed by all who had the privilege of hearing them.
Rebecca was also known for being a kind and generous neighbor, always ready to lend a hand, share a smile, or offer a friendly word. She had a heart of gold and was quick to show care and concern for others. Her love extended beyond her human friends; she had a deep affection for her cat, who brought her great comfort and companionship in her daily life.
Though Rebecca's many talents and interests kept her busy, her true source of strength was her deep faith and devotion to her church. She loved going to church and found peace and purpose in her connection to her faith community. It was there she drew much of the strength that carried her through her life, and it was her love for the Lord that kept her spirit alive with hope and love for others.
Rebecca's life was one of beauty, love, and generosity. She will be remembered not only for her immense creativity and passion but for the kindness, humor, and warmth she shared with everyone she met. Those who knew her will carry her memory with them in their hearts forever.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, Jewell and Helen Boler, her beloved husband Robert D. Richter, Sr., and her brother Charles K. Boler.
She is survived by her brother, William (Angela) Boler, as well as her nieces and nephews: John (Stacy) Eric Boler, Kati (Michael) Goodspeed, and several great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
A graveside service to honor Rebecca's life will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561, and will be private to close family.
In lieu of flowers please honor Rebecca's memory by showing kindness to others-do something thoughtful, lend a helping hand, or simply brighten someone's day while keeping her in your heart.
