Richard Eckman Obituary

Richard K. "Dick" Eckman, age 93, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Born November 30, 1932 in Conestoga, he was the son of the late Newell I. and Bertha (Manning) Eckman.
Dick was a U.S. Army veteran and had worked as a salesman for both Raub Supply Company from 1950 to 1981 and for Schaedler Bros. from 1982 to 1998. He was a longtime member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church. In his free time, Dick enjoyed traveling to the cabin, fishing and hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Verna I. (Smith) Eckman and by his brother and his wife, Newell M. and Jeanne Eckman. Surviving are his four daughters: Donna M. Updegraff (Tom), Diane L. Campbell (Steve), Denise A. Bear (Ben), and Doreen L. Heller (Todd); his nine grandchildren: Amy, Justin, Kayla, Jeffrey, Zachary, Lauren, Brandon, Nathan, and Ashley; as well as his seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 13 at Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, 1934 S. York Street, Mechanicsburg, where there will be a viewing from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
