Norman Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Jan. 22, 2026.
Norman Dale Brown, 93, of Monrovia, passed away on January 20, 2026, at IU Health University Hospital.

He was born at home on the family farm on August 7, 1932, to the late Roy and Dessie (Smith) Brown. Norman graduated from Monrovia High School in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Ormandy, on August 24, 1952.

Norman was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his service, he continued his family's farming legacy and lived in the very home where he was born for his entire life.

He was a devoted member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church of Hall, where he served faithfully as an Elder for many years. Norman loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed gardening. He took great pride in repairing and maintaining his tractors and cars. A lifelong Indiana sports fan, he enthusiastically supported the Pacers, Colts, and Hoosiers.

Norman was full of life and deeply valued good conversations and time spent with his family. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind spirit, and unwavering dedication to his faith, family, and community.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marilyn Brown; children, Diana Cooper, Michael Brown (Christie), and Kathy Walker (Robert); grandchildren, Toni Eash (Chris), Dana Foreman (Brian), and Jason Brown (Beth); and great-grandchildren, Elijah, Shawn, Evan, Dominic, Emma, Oakley, and Ledger.

In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his sister, Iris Ricketts; and son-in-law, Ben Cooper.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church of Hall. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Hall Cemetery.
