Norma Kay (Watts) Chatman - age 81 of Liberty, MO and formerly of Lathrop passed away Thursday morning, March 20, 2025, at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home. Norma was born on November 20, 1943, the daughter of Ralph and Katherine (Vaughn) Watts in Brookfield, MO. She grew up in Wakenda and was a 1961 graduate of Carrollton High School. Norma married Thomas Chatman on December 5th, 1965 in Wakenda. She and her family moved to Lathrop in 1973 and established their home. Norma worked as a housekeeper at Liberty Hospital for several years. She was a member of the Lathrop First Baptist Church and Lathrop PTA. Norma was an active Classroom Mother and was involved with Vacation Bible School at church. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. Norma truly enjoyed being a grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and husband Thomas Chatman. She is survived by her children, Douglas Chatman (Kim) of Liberty, MO, Cheryl Chatman of Madison, WI and Mikelle (Chatman) Barnhart (Rod) of Kearney, MO; grandchildren, Derek Chatman (Evelyn) of Houston, TX, Kaden Chatman of Liberty, MO, and Emma Scott of Liberty, MO; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Watts Jr. (Charlene) of Carrollton, MO; five Step Grandchildren; and Close Cousins Peggy & Gerald Crawford of Trimble, MO. Other extended family members and friends also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 28, 2025, at Lathrop Cemetery. There is no scheduled visitation. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home in Lathrop (816) 740-4658. Online guestbook at www.stithfamilyfunerals.com
