Nelson grew up in Rochester, NH. In his teenage years he went to Spaulding High School and was in a popular band that everyone still to this day remembers and talks about.
After high school Nelson, his father and brother started Forest and Sons Pump company. After selling the company in the late 80's Nelson made the decision to become a police officer. His career started at Wakefield Police Department in Wakefield NH where he became a Sargent. Nelson then became the Police Chief for Milton Police Department in Milton, NH. Nelson then moved to Franklin NH where he was hired as Police Chief before deciding to retire to the sunny, warm weather of the South.
If you knew Nelson well you know he could not sit still so even though in his retirement era he and his wife Lorna were co-managers and inn keepers at popular destinations in both Boothbay Harbor, Maine and Sanibel Island, Florida Nelson loved cooking up some new creations for the guests to try.
Nelson spent some time previously in Ocala, Fla. but decided to settle in
Murrells Inlet, SC where he was working at Harrelson's Fish Market to keep himself busy.
When not working he spent much of his time crafting some of his much sought after pvc pipe birds a trade he learned from his father in law late Douglas Milbury. His new creation of PVC pipe sit and fish stands, antique cigar box guitars and many other well thought ideas are still a work in progress in his favorite place to be his workshop. He loved his sidekick and best buddy Blue who was always at his side whether on the beach, in his workshop or on a ride to the local Home Depot. His kids often joke that Blue was his "favorite child"
Nelson is predeceased by his parents Frank and Doris Forest. His first wife and mother of the children Sandra (Brooks) Forest, son Mark Forest, son-in-law David Gates, Father-in-law Douglas Milbury and Mother-in-law Joanne Milbury.
Per his wishes, there will not be services.
Nelson loved sitting in the sunny, warm beach air and just relaxing to the ocean waves.
We ask that when you visit the beach, you always remember him with fond memories.
Footprints
by Robert Longley
Few things are as fleeting As footprints in the sand; Sometimes we walk alone And sometimes hand in hand.
Both paths tell a story That waves may wash away; As long as we have the memory They live with us each day.
Come to the beach and remember. Make some footprints of your own, And think of days now absent And the memories we've known.
The water can be healing – It always was for me – Just take time to remember And I think that you will see.
The family would like to thank you for your love and support.
