Michael Wood Obituary

Michael Gene Wood, age 70, of El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, in his home.
Mike was born on March 20, 1954, to Loren "Red" and Henrietta (Gilpin) Wood. He graduated with the El Dorado Springs High School class of 1972. He attended school in Springfield, MO, for auto body. He then enlisted and served in the United States Navy as a diesel mechanic on the U.S.S Howard G. Gilmore from 1973 to 1974.
Mike married Patricia (Houdeshell) Wood on June 21, 1975. To this union three children were born: Micah, Kristofer, and Megan.
He enjoyed being outside, working on trucks, and spending time with family and friends. He was well known for his talent in oil painting. Mike followed his father's footsteps and was an avid truck driver until the late 90's
Mike married Jan (Purtle) Amick on July 22, 2021. They loved blue grass, gospel, and adventures to Branson, MO together.
Proceeding Mike in death were his wife, Pat in 2019; infant son, Micah Brice; mother, Henrietta; father, Loren; brothers, Terry "Pete" Wood and Lloyd "Smilie" Wood; and one sister, Connie (Wood) Goodwin.
Survivors include his wife, Jan of the home; son, Kristofer and fiancé, Sharleen of El Dorado Springs; stepdaughter, Kaitlyn and husband, Marshall Cauthon of El Dorado Springs; grandchildren: Cooper, Jayden, Mikaela, Ellie, Logan, Alex, Avery, Alex, and Abby; brothers, Steve Wood and wife Peggy and Bill Wood; and sister, Lori and husband Tim Brooks.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Coal Hill Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Following the visitation, we will procession to Coal Hill Cemetery for a Graveside service.
