Michael Robert Nicholls, age 58, of Mishawaka, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2025. Mike was born August 28, 1966, in Jackson, Michigan. He was employed as a maintenance manager for several apartment buildings in the Michiana area, where he was loved by all the residents. Hardworking and dedicated, he took pride in his job and always went the extra mile to help those around him.
On February 14, 2011, Mike married Calli Perfumo in Ocala, Florida. They recently celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary. Calli survives, along with his sons Kyle Nicholls and Michael Nicholls, his stepchildren, Ashley, Kayla, Hannah, Eddy and Matthew, and five grandchildren: Serena Rose Nicholls, Kai Nicholls, Bronson Nicholls, Presley Nicholls, and River Nicholls. Also surviving are his mother and stepfather, Joyce (Jan) Wren, and his sister, Melanie (Jason) Ramey as well as his nephews Brock and Brayden Ramey. Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Jaime Wren, and his biological father, Robert B. Nicholls.
Mike was a "MOPAR" man through and through, with a passion for racing his Camaro and Challenger. He was a dedicated fan of the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Pistons, rarely missing a game. A devoted family man, he deeply loved his wife and children and shared an especially close bond with his mother, whom he considered his best friend.
Beyond his family and work, Mike had a big heart for animals, particularly cats. Over the years, he rescued at least ten cats when previous tenants abandoned them, ensuring they had a loving home. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved will never be forgotten.
There will be no formal services at this time, but Mike’s family asks that you remember him with a smile whenever you think of the life he led. Cruz Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with his care.
