Mary Alice Smith Cooper, age 78, of Homer, LA, went home to be with Jesus on October 18, 2024. She passed away peacefully at Claiborne Memorial Medical Center. Mary was born in Farmerville, LA, on January 13, 1946, and as a child, moved to Homer, LA, where she lived the rest of her life. She worked at Wal-Mart in Homer until she retired and then she spent her time doing arts and crafts, cooking and spoiling her nieces.
She was a member of Pleasure Point Baptist Church, where she enjoyed being with her friends and singing in the choir. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Smither and her mother, Artie B Smith of Homer and her sister-in-law, Pam Smith of Homer.
She is survived by her brothers, Royce Smith of Shreveport, LA, and Lee Smith and wife Stacy of Homer, her nephew, Alvin “Bear” Smith of North Carolina, her nieces, Sadie Urban of North Carolina, Angela Tucker and husband Robbie of Homer, LA, and Cassie Castaneda and husband Jay of Shreveport and her great nieces, Samantha Tucker, Julie Castaneda, and Bella Castaneda.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.
