Martha Mills Obituary

Martha A. "Marti" Mills, age 82 of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully and pain free Sunday afternoon at Center for Hospice, Raclin House, with her son by her side. Born on Jan 4th,1943 in South Bend, she lived in the area for most of her life. Affectionately known as Marti, she dedicated her life to the food service industry as a food broker, working for Core Group, Supreme Great Lakes, and D.L. Brokerage. After 50 years in the Foodservice business Marti worked full time up until a brief illness, often saying, "Every day is new. No day is ever the same. I love helping customers with ideas for their restaurants and creating recipes and menus." Her unwavering commitment to her work allowed her to build lasting relationships with clients, who loved her passion, honesty, persistence and the incredible trust she fostered over the years. Marti took great pride in doing things right the first time and her contributions to her team and company were immeasurable.
Not only was Marti a remarkable professional, but she was a cherished friend to many. She was known for her straightforward nature and strong will, always letting you know how she felt. Her contagious personality and sense of humor made her loved in both her personal and professional life.
Marti was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and received her bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College. She also attended the University of Detroit.
She is survived by her son, Kelly Lee of South Bend and her grandsons, Patrick and Jacob Lee who will carry on her legacy of strength and independence.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday April 10th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. Friends may gather with the family at the funeral home and a memorial service will take place at 2:30. A lunch will follow at The Chicory Café / Event Center, 114 West 1st St, Mishawaka IN 46544
