Martha Lapoint Obituary

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 6, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist in Mermentau, La for Martha Lapoint, 90, who passed away Sunday February 2, 2025, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA.
The family is requesting a visitation at the Matthews Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Wednesday February 5, 2025, from 2:00-8:00 PM. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday February 5, 2025, at 6:30 PM. This visitation will resume on Thursday February 6, 2025, at 8:00 AM until the time of her mass at 1:00 PM.
Reverend Andrew Schumacher will be officiating the services.
Interment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Mermentau, LA.
Martha was born on October 31, 1934, in Mermentau, La to Donat Leblanc and Eleanor Benoit. Martha worked as a salesclerk in retail stores. Martha held a passion for her church and participated in much volunteer work. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and offered her service as a Sacristan. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Martha is survived by one brother, Luellyn "Lou" LeBlanc and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Camille "Dou" Lapoint; her parents, Donat LeBlanc and Eleanor Benoit; one brother, Alfred LeBlanc; three sisters, Hilda Potier, Helen Broussard and Lillian Trahan.
