Audrey Ulvestad Obituary

Audrey R Ulvestad, age 91, of Bruce, SD, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2026. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Bruce, SD. A Visitation will be held at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Audrey R. Ulvestad was born on December 13, 1934 in rural Bruce, SD, the daughter of Oscar and Mabel (Holter) Skovlund. Audrey was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church and received her education in rural schools near Bruce, SD. She was united in marriage to Merle Ulvestad on August 20, 1955 at the St. Petri Lutheran Church in rural Bruce. She was employed at various places during her lifetime, including the Sawneee Hotel for several years, Adee Honey Farms for 18 years and continued part-time for several years after. Merle died on June 3, 2005. She has continued to make Bruce her home.

She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce and also active in WMF, Willing Worker, church choir, Ruth Circle and thoroughly enjoyed her church life. She especially enjoyed flowers – being called “The Flower-Lady” of Bruce, baking, fishing, camping, gardening, spending time visiting friends, enjoying her coffee time, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Audrey is survived by her children: Arlyn (Holly) Ulvestad of Brookings and Julie Hanson of Bruce as well as four grandchildren; Jeremy, Jesse (Erin) Ulvestad, Chase (Lindsey) Hanson, Shelby and six great-grandchildren; Quinn, Claire, Elise, Cash, Eden, Mabel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, one son (Douglas), Brothers (Olaf, Floyd, Adolph, Ralph, Leon, Alden, Gerald, Melvin, Harold), and Sisters (Lucille-infant, Audrey-infant, Evelyn Harpestad, Olga Hartley, Ellen Krogh, Esther Boettcher).
