Marilyn Booker Obituary
On the evening of Sunday, June 2, 2024, Marilyn Lee Booker, gained her angelic wings and ascended to her heavenly home. She persevered through years of declining health with a positive attitude, optimistic outlook and a strong faith that all things are possible with God.
Marilyn was born October 10, 1952, to her late parents, Charles Booker Sr. and Pearl Pennix Booker. She was preceded in death by her sisters Earle Booker (Jack) Hudson and Hazel Booker Evans.
Marilyn gave her life to Christ at an early age and become a faithful member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church of Appomattox, VA. Later in life, she became a member of the Usher Board and the Ladies Auxiliary Club until her health prevented her to serve as she saw fit.
She graduated in the first integrated class of Appomattox County High School. Marilyn also attended Central Virginia Community College. She served and worked in her local community for several years before relocating to Silver Spring, Maryland. There she held positions as an Executive Assistant for Price and Williams and the INET companies.
In Maryland, she created a circle of dedicated friends that supported each other and always knew how to have a good time. Marilyn was the 'diva' aunt that her nieces and nephews looked up to and was always excited when she came home for a visit. And we all know, Marilyn was a diehard Washington Redskins fan and represented them in style.
Marilyn encourages a prosperous and full life to her stronghold brother Charles Booker, Jr., (Lorraine); devoted brother Bobby Booker (Betty), dedicated sister Phyllis Booker and brother-in-law, Charlie (Gus) Evans. She had unwavering support and care from her nephew, Reginald Booker, during her time of declining health and need.
Affectionally known as "Aunt Marilyn", she bequeaths love, long life and happiness to a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Booker will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
Public viewing will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, 12 Noon until 5 p.m. at the Bruce and Stiff Funeral Home.
