Marie Curving Obituary

Marie L. Curving June 28,1932 – March 8, 2025
Marie passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the age of 92. She had of late been living at 48 Donna Drive in Fairfield, New Jersey after moving back to Fairfield from her home in Manahawkin New Jersey following the passing of her beloved husband Don in 2023. She was able to spend her final years in the house where she had raised her family surrounded by family members. Marie is survived by her two children, Glenn and George and their wives Deborah and Patti, as well as her niece Mary Anne McDonough and her husband Steve. She had four grandchildren, Christopher, Gregory, Matthew and Ashlee, a step-granddaughter Kaileigh, and a great grandson, Chase. She is also survived by her sister Louise DeGrado.
Marie was born and grew up in Paterson, New Jersey with her parents George and Esther DeGrado (nee Migliorino). After graduating East Side High School, Marie worked briefly for a New Jersey Bank and after getting married, devoted her time to being a homemaker and raising her family, initially residing in Paterson and then moving to Fairfield in 1965. She also worked, for a period of time, as a school bus driver in the Fairfield and West Essex Regional School Districts.
Marie was a member of the Fairfield Elks Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed reading, growing African violets, and playing Mah Jong in her free time. Perhaps her greatest passion however, aside from spending time with her children and grandchildren, was playing the slots in Atlantic City while on frequent trips there with Don.
Marie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and aunt and will be greatly missed.
