Obituary of Madeline Barker
Madeline Mazzella Barker was born on May 31, 1931 on Chestnut street in Newark NJ to Joseph and Matilda Mazzella. Madeline passed away peacefully in her home in Bloomfield, NJ on March 21, 2025 just shy of her 94th birthday. She will be interned at the mausoleum at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair, NJ.
Madeline lived in San Diego for a few years after graduating high school and then moved back home with her parents in the late fifties before getting married.
After returning to New Jersey, Madeline became a secretary and worked for the president of Kean University for 20 years.
Madeline loved ballroom dancing and that is where she met her husband, Robert Barker, who was an award winning dancer as well as a Doctorate in Chemistry and who helped invent rayon.
Madeline had a very close relationship with her brother Nicky. Madeline and Nicky loved playing with their neices and nephews, especially her brother's son, Ray and her sister's son, Joseph. She would always would tell Ray and Joseph jokes and play games with them.
For the past 7 years, Madeline was being cared for by her loving caretakers, Nirva and Judy, who helped Madeline in so many ways and helped her live happily in her home in Bloomfield.
Madeline was predeceased by her husband, Bob, and her siblings, Louie, Sylvia, Jenny and Nick. Surviving are her nephew, Joseph Dante and his wife, grand-nephew and grand-niece, Raphael and Siena.
