Linda Kay Sloan, Shawnee, OK resident, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 surrounded by family in Midwest City at the age of 77. Linda was born on July 25, 1948 in Atoka, OK to William and Gladys (Edwards) Wheeler. She grew up in Lehigh, OK and graduated from Coalgate High School. Linda earned her bachelors degree at East Central University. She devoted herself to her career in mental health and her work as a case manager for Mental Health Services of Southern Oklahoma and then at Red Rock Mental Health Services from where she retired. Linda married Garvin Sloan on August 28, 1993 in Seminole, OK. She didn’t have biological children but she gained a son and daughter in her marriage to Garvin.
Linda was a member of Grace Church in Shawnee, OK. She enjoyed antiques, watching Judge Judy and OSU football with Garvin. She loved spending time with her family and caring for her furbaby, Chewy. Linda was of a kind and caring nature, willing to help and offering a listening ear and guidance without any judgement.
Linda is survived by her husband, Garvin Sloan; daughter, Lisa Sloan; grandchildren, Da’Meayre Samuels, Avian Harrison, Briah Edwards and Jalee Edwards; great grandchildren, Keelyn and Kaelani; a host of nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Elena, Edina, Yolanda, Erikia, Adrein, Monica, Josulyn, Allegra, Ania, Selena, Keveah, Larue, Colin, Demery, Brendan, Liam, Josiah and Raine; special niece she and Garvin helped in raising, Aresheia; special cousins she talked with frequently, Ed Wheeler and Mary Wheeler; step-sister, Patty Hazelwood; her beloved fur baby, Chewy and many other family and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brice Sloan; brother, Jerry Grader and her fur babies, Jenny, CJ and Spike.
Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 and from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK. Cremation will follow. The repass will be at Grace Baptist Church following services.
