With heavy yet grateful hearts, we honor the life and legacy of Lillian "Marie" Norman Webb, who transitioned peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 11:30 PM. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and pillar of her community, she was known for her unwavering faith, boundless love, and endless kindness.
Born on September 30th in Memphis, TN, Marie-affectionately known as Debbie-lived a life deeply rooted in faith, service, and compassion. As the eldest of her siblings, she forged a path of excellence, earning degrees from both the University of Tennessee - Knoxville and Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ, where she obtained a Master of Public Administration.
Marie's impact was vast and profound. She touched countless lives as an author of over 30 books, a dedicated church member, a servant leader in her community, and a source of wisdom and warmth to all who knew her.
Beyond her many accomplishments, Marie embraced life with joy and creativity. She had a deep love for arts & crafts, shopping, traveling, and the power of prayer. Whether she was exploring new places, creating beauty through her hands, or uplifting others through prayer, she found meaning and purpose in every moment. Her nurturing spirit and unshakable belief in love and faith left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marie was a devoted wife to Aaron Webb, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Their journey began in college, where they met and formed an unbreakable bond, standing by each other's side ever since. The year 2025 marks what would have been their 50th wedding anniversary (1975-2025) – a milestone not just of marriage, but of a love story that spanned decades. And, of course, we must also honor the cherished dating years they both spoke of so fondly, the foundation of a beautiful and enduring union.
Known affectionately as "Mama," Marie was a deeply caring and loving mother to Armond Webb (Bethany), Koya Webb (Daren), Jamar Webb (Marsha), and Talayna Webb. She nurtured her children with unwavering love, guidance, and faith, always ensuring they felt supported, cherished, and deeply valued. She was a beloved daughter, pristinely cared for by Velma Shoats Brittenum and Crawford Shoats, Sr. (deceased), while maintaining a special connection with her natural father, William Echols (deceased).
Her cherished siblings include Vanessa Coburn, Crawford Shoats Jr., Treon Williams, Rocky Shoats (Angie), Joe McKee (Shirley), William Echols Jr. (Christine), Clara Lewis, Jeannie Echols, Merlyn McNeal, Calvin Echols (Yolonda), Carolyn Echols, and Vernette Jones (Carl).
Marie's beloved grandchildren include Quantarius Webb (Heaven), Armondre' Webb, Kalisa Shutes, Jamar Webb Jr., Jessica Webb, Olivia Webb, Taliah Webb, and Tanzi Webb.
Her treasured great-grandchildren include Judah Middlebrook, Jayce Webb, and Dylan Shutes.
In addition, she was a cherished aunt and friend to many.
With deep love, heartfelt gratitude, and cherished remembrance, we celebrate a life beautifully lived.
