Leon D. Shaw, age 92, of
Jeffersonville, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March
20, 2025, at Norton Clark Hospital. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved
him, but his legacy of service, kindness, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Leon was born on September 2, 1932, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Lassie Pearl
England Shaw and Edward Osborne Shaw. Leon lived a life marked by his unwavering devotion
to his country, his family, and his community. His journey was one of bravery, entrepreneurial
spirit, and heartfelt generosity. Leon proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean
War, demonstrating the courage and selflessness that would define his character for the rest of
his life. In 1960, he founded Kentuckiana Yacht Sales in Jeffersonville, where he built a
reputation for integrity and commitment to his community, he went on to build thousands of
boats during his career in the boat business. Leon also founded Gibson Houseboats, Jefferson
Yachts, Monticello River Yachts and Marlago center console Boats.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Margaret Kimbley Shaw, with whom he shared a
deep and enduring love for 63 years together, they created a home filled with warmth, joy, and
countless cherished memories. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a host of loved
ones who have gone before him.
Leon is survived by his son, David Shaw (Becky RN), grandson Justin Shaw and granddaughter
Melissa Foster and three great grandchildren. He is also lovingly remembered by his extended
family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30th, from 4-8 PM, and on Monday, March 31st,
from 9-11 AM at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville. The funeral
service will follow at 11 AM on Monday, March 31st, with burial to take place at Walnut Ridge
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Leon can be made to The American
Kidney Fund.
