BEAUFORT, SC. - The Management and Staff of THE SERENITY MORTUARY - HISTORIC BEAUFORT CHAPEL, alongside the Black Family announce the passing of Ms. Joyce Marie Black, 69 of Beaufort, SC., who entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, SC. Ms. Black is the daughter of the late Deacon Thomas and Deaconess Florence Black. Joyce was born and raised in New York City, New York. She received her education in New York, where she earned a bachelors degree in elementary education and a masters in developmental education. Her full career was in education both in New York and later when she moved to Beaufort, South Carolina. Here in Beaufort she worked with children with special needs and fully retired.
