Joseph Young, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle & friend, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Born on December 19, 1946, in Newark, New Jersey, he lived a full life and touched the hearts of all who knew him. Joe is survived by his devoted wife of fifty years, Donna Young; his sister Kathleen Welsh; 2 Brothers in-law; 5 adoring children & their spouses; 15 cherished grandchildren; 2 precious great-grandchildren; 2 loving nieces & 2 wonderful nephews. He took immense pride in sharing stories about his family—his eyes would light up as he spoke of their accomplishments and adventures. Family was everything to Joe; he loved them fiercely and found joy in watching each grandchild grow into their own unique person.
Music was the soundtrack to Joe's life. From the soulful melodies of Pink Floyd to the heartfelt ballads of Neil Diamond, there was always a tune playing in the background—a reflection of his vibrant spirit. His passion for music intertwined beautifully with another one of his loves: photography. An avid photographer with an eye for nature’s beauty, Joe captured stunning landscapes that told stories without words. In addition to these passions, Joe had a playful side that shone brightly during trips to York Beach—the destination where countless memories were made every summer while metal detecting along sandy shores with his family.
Joe's final moments were spent surrounded by those he loved most—his wife Donna holding his hand tightly while their son Brian and daughter Dawn offered comfort beside them. It was a peaceful farewell for a man whose heart overflowed with love.
A Celebration of Life will be held this spring to honor Joseph Young’s legacy—a gathering filled with music reminiscent of his favorite songs and shared stories reflecting the warmth he brought into our lives. In lieu of flowers or gifts at this time when we remember him fondly together as family and friends please consider making donations to "The Trevor Project," an organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQ youth—a cause close to Joe's compassionate heart. As we say goodbye to Joseph Young today but carry forward his memory forever within us—we are reminded that love knows no bounds nor end—it simply transforms into beautiful echoes carried forth through generations yet unborn.
