John Austin Shaw, of Yorkville, passed away August 11, 2024. Born June 28, 1938 to Theodore and Virginia Shaw, John was a graduate of West Aurora high school (1956), the University of Wisconsin (1961) and Aurora University (1972). John was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps from 1961-1965. After his time in the Marines, John assumed the role of owner/operator of the Central Limestone Company from his father, who began it in 1928.

John took civic responsibility seriously, and was elected to numerous positions throughout the county, including Lisbon Township Clerk (3 terms), Kendall County Board (2 terms) and was elected by the board members to serve as County Board Chair from 2012-2016. Additionally, he served as a Lisbon Seward Fire Protection Trustee as well as a Kendall Township trustee. John was appointed the Governor's Upper Illinois River Valley Development Authority, Vice President of the Aurora Country Club, a YMCA Board member, a member of the E 2/14 Marine Corps League, and many other commissions and committees throughout the county.

John leaves behind his wife of 47 years, his 'child bride' (John's favorite nickname), Kay Marie and four children: Jeff (Teri) Shaw of Morris, Jennifer (Ed) Parolek of Sugar Grove, Andrew (Joanna) Shaw of Yorkville, and Hilary Shaw of Madison. Grandchildren Summer, Conner and Sophia Shaw, Annabelle Parolek, Jordan, Isaac, Nora and Eliana Shaw, and Camille Shaw. John is additionally survived by his sister, Lucinda (Michael) Harriage, Niece Amy Gabrielian and Nephew Stephen Harriage. He is fondly remembered by life long best friends Ann Pearson and George Finley.

John cared deeply for his family and community, his life was testament of a truly commendable man.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's name to the Natural Beginnings Preschool, Kendall County, or CASA of Kendall County.

John was a fellow Marine stationed with me at Camp Pendleton in 1963. Always had a humorous outlook on life, a great friend and a great Matine! Semper Fi!! RIP
