John P. McCarthy of Napanoch, NY passed away at home on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was 71 years old. John was born on December 5, 1953, in Brooklyn, NY; he was the son of the late John and Joan (Anderson) McCarthy.
John dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his community, beginning his career as a Corrections Officer at the Eastern Correctional Facility. He later transferred to Manhattan, where he served as a police officer for the Port Authority until his well-earned retirement. Beyond his professional endeavors, John was a member of the Ellenville Elks Lodge 1971 and had an enduring love for dogs, which brought him much joy throughout his life.
John is survived by his wife Sandra R. (Sheeley) McCarthy; his sisters, Lisa Lynch and her husband Michael, Karen Lucas and her husband Dwight and Dana Digiacomo and her husband William. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister Chrissy Roach.
Visitation will be held at Loucks Funeral Home on Friday, March 14th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service. The burial will take place at Fantinekill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made directly to Sandra to assist with funeral expenses.
