John Banks Jr. was born on March 23, 1964 in Newark, NJ to the late John Banks Sr. and Laurie Banks. He attended Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, NJ.
John (Junebug) was known for his creativity and dedication to his family, earning respect and admiration. John, known as Shareef, was marked by Love & Joy. He was a devoted brother and uncle, he loved his sisters and nieces so much. John (Junebug) was a loyal friend and uncle. His Faith was in control of his life, guiding him through triumphs and challenges. He always said, "God's got me!"
John's smile and positive energy left a lasting impact on everyone he met. John's (Shareef) legacy is one of kindness, integrity and commitment to making the world a better place.
John always put everyone before himself, making sure all was good and preaching to everyone, and you had better listen because you could not get a word out until he got his point across. We are all missing you Brother.
John (Shareef) was preceded in death by: his father, John Banks Sr.; his mother, Laurie Banks; his brothers, Dewayne Banks, Kevin Banks and Maurice Banks; and his brothers-in-law, Shelton Colwell and Andrew Howard.
John Jr. leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory: his sisters, Deborah Colwell Howard, Donna Banks, LaShawnda Banks, Vicki Brown, Delores Banks and Wanda Banks; his brothers, Shawn Banks, Thomas Alexander, Timothy Ellis, Greg Ellis and Ramon Banks; sisters-in-law, Jacqui Banks and Purple Banks; a brother-in-law, Chicko Brown; and his best friend of 40+ years, Bilal.
